We are planning for the OAGi Policy Board to meet the afternoon on Wednesday, May 1 and then we will have a half day of Working Group Face to Face sessions on Friday, May 3.

Mobile, Cloud, JSON Initiative kicks off the new year with a Guest Speaker

One of the speakers at the API Meetup we attended while at our Plenary Meeting in San Francisco was kind enough to come present to the entire Working Group on January 3rd of this year.

His name is Tyler Singletary from Klout and he shared his experiences managing mobile API’s for his company.  We thank Tyler again for his contributions.

The Working Group has resumed working on their own JSON API Guide for OAGIS and they are making good progress.  We are seeing that the Mobile API Design may end up differing some from the Cloud JSON API but that is not yet final.

If you are interested in joining the Working Group please write to us at inquiry@oagi.org.

OAGIS Release 10 Public Review Two is coming soon.

The second Public Review of OAGIS Release 10 is coming soon.  Watch for the announcement.

Public Review Two will contain the Chemical Industry content from our Gap Analysis with the Chem eStandards.  That was part of our agreement with CIDX when they merged with OAGi in 2009.  Public Review Two is also planned to contain the HR-XML harmonization work that Steffen Fohn of ADP has been working on as well as some manufacturing enhancements.

The Working Groups continue to meet to wrap up the technical work and we are planning a Webinar that will brief participants on the features of OAGIS Release 10.

We encourage your participation in this exciting and important work.  All OAGi members are invited to join and if you are interested please contact us here.  We need all the smart people we can get.

New Manufacturing Opportunities with NIST
Nenad Ivezic and Serm Kulvatunyou of NIST, both also longtime contributors to OAGi, presented interesting new Manufacturing proposals at our Plenary Meeting on November 29, 2012.

The first one is entitled “Sustainability Characterization of Manufacturing Supply Chains “.  The goals of this project include developing the necessary models, methods and tools to assess and optimize total energy and material usage, and to enable OEMs to aggregate the energy and material sustainability contributions from their own manufacturing and assembly processes with those from their supply chains.

The second proposal from NIST for an OAGi activity is entitled, “Advancing Communication of Manufacturing Information”.  The goal of this activity is to increase the productivity of U.S. small manufacturers by enabling digital communication of manufacturing information for production and data processing through development of reference models and systematic, verifiable modeling methodology that will enable new standards for manufacturing supply chain integration.

You can download their proposals on our website here

We welcome your feedback and look forward to your participation.

Start of an exciting 2013 for OAGi

This week marks the start of what we are looking forward to be an exciting new year for OAGi.

This year our long awaited next-gen Release 10 of OAGIS is expected to ship.  This release of OAGIS, when it becomes generally available, will succeed the Chem eStandards that were built by CIDX.  This will give the Chemical Industry a cross industry option for B2B standards as planned by the CIDX founders when they merged CIDX with OAGi in 2009.

Release 10 also includes many other important content enhancements as well as many enhancements to make it faster to implement and easier to use.  You can learn more by downloading the presentation from our December 2012 Plenary Meeting page here.

2013 also is planned as a year of great progress for our Mobile, Cloud, JSON working Group.  The effort is proving to be a tremendous learning effort for all the participants.

In addition we have two face to face meetings planned, the first one on May 1 – 3 at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the other at Oracle in November.

We have many other happenings planned so watch this blog and visit our website (http://www.oagi.org) often for updates.

Happy New Year to all!
