REMINDER: Register now for our Spring 2013 Plenary Meeting

This is a reminder that registration is now open for our 2013 Spring Plenary Meeting to be held Thursday, May 2 and will once again be sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) located in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  We are planning one half day of Working Group meetings on Friday morning, May 3.

We are also having a Policy Board meeting the afternoon of May 1, also at NIST.

The agenda is still in draft form, but we will be addressing the following topics:

- Update on the OAGIS Mobile, Cloud, and JSON Initiative
- Special Presentation from NIST on their new Supply Chain and Sustainability Initiatives
- Update on OAGi BPMN work
- Case study from one of Outstanding Contributors, Steffen Fohn
- Case study from Command Alkon, an OAGi member
- OAGIS Release 10 Introduction
- Working Group meeting half day on day two

You can learn about travel and accommodations as well as register for the meeting on our website here.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Mobile, Cloud, JSON Initiative continues with a great deal of interest.

The Working Group has resumed working on their own JSON Application Programming Interface (API) Guide for OAGIS Mobile and Cloud API’s and they are making good progress.  We are seeing that the Mobile JSON API Design may end up differing some from the Cloud JSON API but that is not yet final.

If you are interested in joining the Working Group please write to us at inquiry@oagi.org.

OAGIS Release 10 Public Review Two is available now!

The second Public Review of OAGIS Release 10 started on February 21 and runs through March 21.

Public Review Two contains the Chemical Industry content from our Gap Analysis with the Chem eStandards.  That was part of our agreement with CIDX when they merged with OAGi in 2009.  Public Review Two is also planned to contain the HR-XML harmonization work that Steffen Fohn of ADP has been working on as well as some manufacturing enhancements.

The Working Group continues to meet to wrap up the technical work and we are planning a Webinar that will brief participants on the features of OAGIS Release 10.

We encourage you to download this Public Review and to give us your feebback.  All OAGi members are invited to participate.  It is on the OAGi website under the “Members Only” section here.  We need all the smart people we can get!

New Manufacturing Opportunities with NIST

Nenad Ivezic and Serm Kulvatunyou of NIST, both also longtime contributors to OAGi, will be presenting at our upcoming May 2, 2013 Plenary meeting.  They will be presenting on their new manufacturing initiatives and Working Group plans.

The first initiative is focused on “Sustainability Characterization of Manufacturing Supply Chains “.  The goals of this project include developing the necessary models, methods and tools to assess and optimize total energy and material usage, and to enable OEMs to aggregate the energy and material sustainability contributions from their own manufacturing and assembly processes with those from their supply chains.

The second initiative from NIST for an OAGi activity is entitled, “Advancing Communication of Manufacturing Information”.  The goal of this activity is to increase the productivity of U.S. small manufacturers by enabling digital communication of manufacturing information for production and data processing through development of reference models and systematic, verifiable modeling methodology that will enable new standards for manufacturing supply chain integration.

You can download their proposals on our website here

We welcome your feedback and look forward to your participation.

BPMN efforts making good progress

OAGi staff met with Denis Gagné to review the BPMN conversion of the OAGIS Scenarios.  The group discussed the types of diagrams to use and how much detail to show.  Denis will present the results at our upcoming Plenary Meeting on May 2 in Gaithersburg.  It is not intended that BPMN will replace our current UML Sequence Diagrams but will complement them.

An example of the work of an OAGIS Procure to Pay BPMN Scenario based on our UML Sequences Diagram version is just below.

Meeting Calendar for 2013

Our planned calendar for 2013 is below.  Stay tuned for the specific date and time announcements.  We are also planning a series of webinars covering topics on Chemical Industry B2B, OAGIS Release 10, and Mobile and Cloud efforts.
